Now that summer is finally here, at Hexagon Edmonton we’ve put together a great beer lineup to pair with this sunny season. Most of these beers are hoppy, light, and crisp, but we have a “dark” twist which might surprise you!

The first beer I’d like to highlight is Ale Architect’s “Akitu,” a Dry Hopped Brut Pale Ale. This beer is light, and refreshing. Named after an ancient Mesopotamian festival celebrating barley-growing season, this slightly hoppy pale ale is very easy-drinking and a little bit fruity.

Next, we have Annex Ale Project’s “Forward Progress” Pale Ale. This is more of what you’d expect from a pale ale; it’s bitter and hoppy with a distinct malty aftertaste. If you enjoy walking on the hoppy side of life, you’ll probably like this one.

We’ve also picked up Alley Kat’s newest addition to their core lineup, their “Fish Bone” New England IPA. I have a feeling that New England IPAs are going to be a super popular style this summer, so be sure to give this fruity, juicy IPA a try next time you’re playing games.

The last hoppy beer we have (and the newest one to our beer fridge), is Dandy’s “Bright Young Things Hopped Wheat Ale”. The hint of wheat really comes through and is highlighted by the crisp hops. This citrus-tinged ale is easy drinking and designed for the heat.

If you’re not into super hoppy beers, don’t worry because we’ve got you covered! We just put Sea Change Brewing’s blonde ale on tap; it’s a smooth beer that’s perfect regardless of the weather or season. We also have Ale Architect’s “Balsam Dark Mild,” which at 3.8% alcohol by volume is light enough for summer, but also has that darker mellow taste that will satisfy even the pickiest of stout drinkers. Even further removed from the hoppy new beers is the Collective Arts apple and cherry cider, which is tart, fruity, easy drinking, and completely gluten-free. Finally, as a preview, we’re swapping out Alley Kat’s “Prairie Pounder Penhold Pilsner” once we run out of it for their “Lazy Days” Passionfruit Sour, which will round out our summer beer selection, so keep your eyes peeled and happy drinking!
